In the 70s it was avocado green shag. In the 90s it was beige low-pile. If you think back to your homes of the past, you probably had wall-to-wall carpet in most rooms. That standard has been replaced with a cleaner, more modern look of wood and tile floors. As a designer, this has been a welcome shift for two reasons - wood and tile are more timeless looks, and they welcome the opportunity to treat underfoot as a fifth wall.
We stopped by our favorite rug showroom for Austin interior designers, Black Sheep Unique, where they're beautifying the world one rug at a time. If you don't already see area rugs as art for the floor, owner, Damien Clark, will convince you. In fact, Clark shows us rugs by a Turkish designer that are currently featured at the Smithsonian!
